The 7-Minute Workout That's Better Than Nothing (And Actually Works)

You don't need a full gym session to stay active on busy days. A 7-minute high-intensity circuit delivers cardiovascular benefits and keeps your metabolism active even when time is tight.

The Science

7 minutes of high-intensity circuit training produces meaningful cardiovascular benefit when done at 80%+ effort. It won't replace a full session, but it's dramatically better than nothing.

The 7-Minute Circuit

30 seconds each, 10 seconds transition. No rest until the end.

  1. Jumping jacks
  2. Wall sit
  3. Push-ups
  4. Abdominal crunches
  5. Step-ups onto a chair
  6. Squats
  7. Tricep dips on chair
  8. Plank hold
  9. High knees running in place
  10. Lunge (alternating)
  11. Push-up with rotation
  12. Side plank (left, then right)

Making It Work

  • At 80%+ effort it's genuinely difficult
  • Do 2-3 rounds if time allows
  • Works anywhere — hotel room, living room, small office
  • Warm up 2 minutes first

When to Use It

Travel days. Sick kids. Crazy work schedule. Use it when you'd otherwise do nothing.
